DC Burners
The DC Burners Non-Profit is a 501(c)3 nonprofit I co-founded to support participatory art and community development in the Washington DC region. As President, I help guide our mission, manage operations, and lead large civic events rooted in the Burning Man principles of creativity, inclusion, and service.
In 2025, we produced DC’s first officially sanctioned Burning Man Decompression event, building a volunteer team of more than 80 people and hosting over 1,000 attendees. The event funded over 150 local artists through micro-grants and strengthened our city’s creative ecosystem.

Working with our board and volunteers, I directed the production of DC’s first officially sanctioned Burning Man Decompression, held at Bertha in Washington DC. I coordinated a volunteer team of more than eighty people and managed all major operational elements, including ticketing, art placement, safety planning, and communications.
The event welcomed more than 1,000 participants across daytime and nighttime programming and supported 150+ artists with grants for installations, performances, and fire pieces.
Alongside this work, I oversaw the event budget, maintained nonprofit compliance, and worked closely with Bertha, The Burning Man Organizationl, and regional Burner groups. This effort established DCOMPRESSION as a recurring civic arts gathering for the Washington DC region.

Container Program

Our team created and managed the DC Burners Container Program, a community logistics system that transported gear from Washington DC to Burning Man and back. The program supported more than 300 participants and provided an organized and cost-effective way for people to ship camp infrastructure, art materials, and personal equipment.
Working with a team, we designed the reservation and tracking system, coordinated intake and loading operations, worked with vendors on transport and safety requirements, and managed all financial and administrative reporting for the nonprofit. The program delivered a reliable round-trip shipping solution for individuals, art teams, and theme camps, and it became a core service that strengthened our regional community’s ability to participate in Burning Man.

Beyond large events and logistics programs, we continue to support the development of art projects, grantmaking efforts, and long-term community planning for DC Burners. Our work centers on creating organizational structures that make participation easier for both new and experienced community members, while maintaining transparency, accountability, and mission alignment within the nonprofit.
